Common Threads 11 - by Joyce

Following Kate’s Events Roundup , Jane and I caught the train from East Croydon down to Uckfield on Saturday 14th March to the exhibition above.

It featured artworks of 11 textile-based artists and groups. As well as quilting we both enjoy many forms of textile based arts. There was a wide variety of pieces exploring personal expression and artistic storytelling using a wide range of different techniques

The group concertina stitched books were an interesting idea bringing together different interpretations of a theme.

As luck would have it there was still a couple of places available in the workshop “Still Life Collage” so we signed up and enjoyed creating with others a piece under the guidance of Dawn Johnson. Funny how other people’s scraps seem more interesting than one’s own back at home!
