Cover Stories, an exhibition by Cathy Corbishley Michel - by Chrissie
This was an excellent exhibition of work spanning 30 years of work. It was held at the Stableyard Exhibition space at Morden Hall Park - thanks to Erica for giving us the info about this exhibition.
There was a wide variety of pieces on display, all machine pieced and quilted although many of them looked like hand piecing and appliqué. Cathy was there when I visited so it was an opportunity to ask her about the work - Dawn Cameron Dick was the inspiration for her method of machine appliqué which appeared to be almost invisible - very impressive.
One of the pieces “Green Man, threads of green” was cyanotype printed fabric with less quilting so as not to distract from the printed image.
She is very much a textile artist and a member of “Contemporary Textiles London”.
