December Meeting - by Jackie B

How quickly the year has passed, marked by a wonderfully varied programme of events and activities. As we gathered for our final meeting, we began the evening by reflecting on our experiences. Kate had thoughtfully prepared a feedback survey for members, focusing on our monthly meetings and the workshops we have organised throughout the year. She encouraged everyone to respond candidly so that she could collate the results and help guide future planning.

The evening continued with a picture quiz, cleverly put together by Jenny. The quiz featured pictures representing the names of famous people, and everyone joined in with great enthusiasm and a healthy sense of competition. Three teams managed to complete the challenge with perfect accuracy, leading to a tie-breaker round and the awarding of prizes to the winners.

After the excitement of the quiz, sweets were handed out to everyone, followed by a Christmas lucky dip, with each member receiving a festive fat quarter. There were also congratulations for Jane M, who had managed to complete a quilt for Project Linus every month this year. In recognition of her dedication and enthusiasm, she was presented with a gift. Jane’s commitment inspired the rest of us to try and follow her example in the coming year. With spirits high, we enjoyed a selection of delicious festive treats and refreshments.

We then moved on to a 'show and tell' session, where members displayed items made in response to the challenges set at the beginning of 2025. These included the tea towel challenge, projects using scraps in a till roll format, and creative transformations of a selection of fabrics donated to the group, some of which were perhaps a little dated. It was wonderful to see the creativity and skill on display. Hopefully this would inspire others to complete these challenges.

There was still time for one last activity—a crossword puzzle filled with various quilting-related clues, which sparked plenty of lively conversation. As the evening drew to a close, everyone exchanged warm wishes for a very Happy Christmas before heading home, bringing our eventful year to a joyful and festive end.
