January Meeting - by Helen D

It was lovely to have such a big turn out on such a frosty and cold night that greeted our first meeting of the year.

After Julia completed the Notices she drew the winner of the Christmas Word Search who was Jan with Eleanor as runner up - well done to both members.

Then it was on to Shirley Quilters 2017 Challenges as we plan towards our mini exhibition on 21st November - it sounds a long way off but will zip round and still take us all by surprise! So now you know that you have to design a Log Cabin hanging and run up a couple of Two by Two blocks using the colourful fabric provided - get cracking while the frost is on the ground. The Two by Two is due back in March so get that out of the way and leave lots of time to create the Log Cabin which is due in October.

Then if you still have some energy you can join the fun of the Raffle Block - just remember to pin your name on the block before you hand it in at the April meeting and you could be the lucky winner of the bag of blocks.

After all the Challenges were set we had a very welcome and refreshing cuppa before we concluded with a Show & Tell.

Let's hope the snow does not return to interfere with our February meeting - until then stay warm & happy sewing.
